How to find warm leads on X, Reddit, and Hacker News
Guide · Updated 2026-11-03 · Warm Lead Pack
Cold lists go stale. Warm leads are people who already posted that they need a tool, alternative, or first customers. This guide covers a lightweight weekly workflow you can DIY — or skip by buying a done-for-you pack.
1. What “warm” means here
- Public post with buying or seeking intent (tool ask, “anyone know…”, “alternative to…”, first-customer struggles).
- Fresh enough to reply (prefer last 7 days).
- A reachable handle + URL — not scraped emails or phones.
2. Search patterns that work
- X: “looking for a tool”, “anyone know a SaaS”, “alternative to”, “first 10 customers”, “cold email tool”.
- Reddit: niche subreddits + “recommend”, “looking for”, “vs”, “self-hosted alternative”.
- Hacker News: Algolia “Ask HN” + product category keywords; Show HN comments asking for feedback.
3. Filter hard
Drop ads, joke posts, “hiring”, and vague venting with no action. Keep rows where you can write a helpful 1–2 sentence reply without pitching hard.
4. Capture a reply-ready row
Every lead should have: date, platform, URL, handle, snippet, inferred need, suggested reply opener. That is the same schema Warm Lead Pack delivers in Markdown / CSV.
Time math: DIY hunting often eats 1–2 hours for a usable week of outreach. A one-time pack means you spend minutes replying instead of hours searching.
